Release time:2024-01-29

The 3rd Global Peace Summit, held from January 10th to 12th, 2024, at the United Nations Conference Center in Bangkok, Thailand, was successfully organized by the Humanitarian Affairs (Asia). Themed "Empowering Future Leaders for Global Peace", the summit welcomed youth aged 18 to 30 globally, voluntarily engaged in peacebuilding. The summit brought together leaders, activists, and visionaries from around the world to address pressing issues and promote peace.

For the first time, FISF sent 13 students to attend this summit, including 9 students from the Elite Master of Finance (EMF) Program, 4 Full-time FMBA students. The three-day summit provided a valuable opportunity for students to hear inspiring stories from globally renowned reformers—ordinary heroes who motivate others through the genuine changes they have made in the world. Additionally, students engaged in learning and exchanging ideas with over 300 faculty and students from around the world, further broadening their perspectives.

The summit aimed to equip participants with the skills to address challenges, drive change, and promote justice and peace. Intercultural exchanges fostered mutual understanding and friendship. Young leaders shared their perspectives, experiences, and projects, drawing inspiration and establishing a global collaborative network to collectively address global challenges.

The summit not only featured impactful speeches but also incorporated a thought-provoking game experience that offered participants a unique perspective on power dynamics, decision-making, and collaboration. The game aimed to reflect real-world aspects and foster dialogue surrounding justice, equal opportunity, development, education, and access to resources.

Collaboration emerged as a key theme throughout the dialogue. Participants recognized the significance of understanding different perspectives and working together to tackle inequalities. They emphasized the role of creative thinking in peace building, acknowledging the complexities of real-world challenges. The discussion also examined the role of power, rules, and coordination in establishing a fair and inclusive global system.

The event fostered communication, understanding, and friendship among students from different countries, diverse professional backgrounds, and various races. In addition to the engaging speeches and thought-provoking game, a tea break was arranged, creating an atmosphere conducive to building connections and promoting dialogue.

During each speech, the organizer encouraged active participation by the students. They were given the opportunity to ask questions directly to the speakers, further enriching the dialogue. One EMF student, Wang Xinru, notably stood out for her active engagement and thought-provoking questions. Her interactions with the speakers added an extra layer of depth to the discussions, stimulating insightful conversations. By actively involving the students in the question-and-answer sessions, the summit created an inclusive environment where diverse voices were heard and valued.

The Global Peace Summit's emphasis on facilitating communication, understanding, and friendship among participants contributed to the overall success of the event. By providing opportunities for personal connections and encouraging active participation, the summit fostered a sense of unity and collaboration among attendees. It highlighted the importance of engaging with different perspectives and working together to achieve lasting peace.

Over three intensive days, delegates gained the knowledge necessary to become Humanitarian Affairs Peace Ambassadors and lead sustainable peace projects in the communities.
