Dr. Weili HONG (David) has over 30 years of experience in finance and investment in both China’s and overseas financial institutions and capital markets. He was the President and CRO of CMC Holdings. Prior to joining CMC, he was a partner of the Gopher Asset Management (China’s No.1 leading FOFs management company) from 2014 to 2016, in charge of PE/VC FOFs and direct investments. David also served as the managing partner of KTB (The largest VC firm in Korea) China from 2008 to 2012, and the head of BD in ING China from 2004 to 2007.

David has rich experience and a track record of dozens of deals in PE/VC FOFs, direct investments, post-investment management and operation, fund raising, M&A, IPO, and other capital market business in the sectors of culture, TMT, consumer, health care, service, education, and manufacturing.

David was one of the pioneers of China’s capital market since he joined Shanghai Stock Exchange at its forming stage in 1992, where he served in several important positions and developed China’s first financial futures product. From 1996 to 2003, he had served as the managing director of the securities business of China Venture-Tech Investment Group (China’s first VC firm, and one of China’s top tier financial conglomerates in the 1990’s), managing research, equity investment, and sales and trading. He was one of the youngest leaders of China’s securities firms at that time.

David received both of his Bachelor’s and Doctor’s degrees in Economics from Fudan University. He currently serves as a Guest Professor of Fudan International School of Finance; and a Guest Professor and a supervisor of the Master Degree Program in the School of Economics; and he is also the vice chairman of the Global Alumni Association of the School of Economics, Fudan University.

David is also an experienced and well-known outdoor traveler, a team leader, and the co-founder of Ye-travel Technology Ltd. He has led teams of several hundreds of entrepreneurs in expeditions covering more than 70 countries across the seven continents. He also serves as an Independent Director for Dingdong Maicai(DDL), Chindata (CD), ClouDr, Luolai Lifestyle Technology (002293.SZ).
