Xian Xu, Professor by Courtesy in Finance at the International School of Finance, Fudan University.

Xian Xu is Professor and Vice Dean at the School of Economics, Fudan University, where he also serves as Head of the Department of Risk Management and Insurance and Vice Dean of Fudan Institute of Insurance Application and Innovation.

Prof. Xu is the Principal Investigator of a Major Grant of the National Social Science Foundation of China and a recipient of the Shanghai “Eastern Talent” Fellowship. He serves as Vice President of the Insurance Society of China, Council Member of the China Society for Finance and Banking, Vice President of the Commercial Insurance Branch of the China Association for Social Security, and a member of the National Steering Committee for Graduate Education in Insurance under the Ministry of Education. He is also on the editorial boards of Disaster Prevention and Management (SSCI), Insurance Studies (CSSCI), and other leading journals.

His research has been published or accepted in leading academic journals such as the Journal of Development Economics, Journal of Risk and Insurance, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, Journal of Banking and Finance, Insurance: Mathematics and Economics, as well as in top AI conferences such as ICCV. He is the author of the first comprehensive chapter on China’s insurance market in the Handbook of Insurance (3rd Edition), an authoritative global reference in the field.

Prof. Xu has received numerous honors, including the global first-place award from the Joint Risk Resilience Partnership launched by the Swiss Re Institute and AXA Research Fund, the Newton Advanced Fellowship from the British Academy, etc.

Prof. Xu obtained his Ph.D. in Insurance at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany.
