Overview
Marshall Xiaoyin Ma, Assistant Professor of Finance (Teaching-Track) at International School of Finance, Fudan University. He has worked as a Deputy Director and Senior Research Expert at Ant Group Research Institute, as an Assistant Professor of Finance at Erasmus School of Economics, Erasmus University, the Netherlands, and as a visiting researcher at Institute of Social Science Survey, Peking University.
Professor Ma's research interests include Digital Economy, FinTech, Big Data, Inclusive Finance, Small-and-Medium Enterprises, and Alternative Investments. His papers have been published in leading academic journals including Management Science, European Economic Review, European Financial Management, China Economic Journal, Review of Industrial Economics (in Chinese), and Enterprise Reform and Development (in Chinese). He has supported national think tanks in the field of big data and Chinese economy and multiple policy notes have received positive instructions from national, provincial, and ministerial decision makers. He was the co-founder of Online Survey Of Micro-and-Small Enterprises (OSOME) and his research has been reported by CCTV Finance and other central media multiple times.
Professor Ma was selected into the overseas high-level talent introduction plan in 2021, and won the Best Teaching Award for Bachelors at Erasmus School of Economics, Erasmus University for the 2018 academic year. He currently serves as a member of the Shanghai Huangpu District Youth Federation, as a director of the Huangpu Branch of the Shanghai Overseas Returned Scholars Association, and as a consultant for inclusive finance for Shanghai Overseas Chinese Foundation.
Professor Ma earned his Ph.D. in Finance from Tilburg University in 2019, studied at the MS-PhD consecutive program at Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance, Shanghai Jiao Tong University between 2011 and 2014, and earned dual B.A.s in Financial Engineering and Financial Statistics from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics in 2011.
