Janet Zhang serves as Director of the Chinese Region at LICA (the International Life Insurance Architect Certification Association) and Lead Author and Lecturer for Chinese-region textbooks. She is also Director of the FISF–LICA International Wealth Management Architecture Center and a Professor of Practice in Finance.
She moved to Canada in 2000, relocated to the Netherlands in 2022, and has since been based in Hong Kong, China since 2025.
Since 2014, she has helped Chinese high-net-worth international families address asset protection, succession planning, and tax compliance through wealth-architecture vehicles — offshore trusts, private foundations, and international life insurance — available across onshore hubs (Hong Kong SAR, Singapore) and offshore jurisdictions (Liechtenstein, the Cayman Islands, Bermuda, and the BVI). In 2022, she established three charitable trusts in China.
In 2018, she partnered with CLTi, the official examination body certified by the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), to launch the first STEP exam to be held in China. Together with her team, she has since delivered exam-preparation courses for five subjects.
Since 2021, she has served as Director of LICA's Global Chinese Region, leading the LICA curriculum team in developing the Chinese and English language certification textbooks. She has brought together over 60 lecturers from around the world to teach on the FISF–LICA platform, with more than 600 students enrolled to date. The four textbooks are International Life Insurance Architecture; International Trusts and Life Insurance; International Taxation and Life Insurance; and Private Placement Life Insurance (PPLI). This is the world's only wealth-management textbook series and curriculum built on an international life-insurance architecture framework, integrating trust structures and addressing the tax regimes of jurisdictions worldwide.
Her life's work and aspiration is "to help the world rediscover life insurance".
