Green Belt & Road Initiative Center founder Christoph Nedopil moves to Fudan University

Dr Christoph Nedopil, the founding director of a leading thinktank for greening China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), has moved to a new role at Fudan University providing research and advisory services for financial institutions, regulators and civil society.
Nedopil founded the Green BRI Center at the International Institute of Green Finance (IIGF) at the Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) in Beijing in 2017. He moves on to Fudan University’s Fanhai International School of Finance (FISF) as director of the Green Finance & Development Center (GFDC), based in Shanghai.
His role at GFDC involves teaching green finance and the role of environmental risks and opportunities in financial decision-making. The key focus areas of GFDC are greening China’s overseas investments, innovation in green finance, and biodiversity finance.
GFDC will work with Chinese and global partners in government, industry, and non-profits to provide evidence-based research for policy and strategy development and capacity building.
Over his career, Nedopil has worked for International Finance Corporation (IFC) in various governance advisory roles for almost ten years in 15 countries. In 2015, he advised the Ministry for Youth and ICT in Rwanda on infrastructure innovation. Among his more recent roles was running a sustainable transport project for the German development agency GIZ in China.
