Teaching by Precept and Example, Promoting Future Dreams Come True - FISF Officially Launches the 4th Career Mentor Program

Ever since its establishment, FISF has acquired great support from warmhearted career mentors from all walks of life. In December 2022, the 4th Career Mentor Program (CMP for short) was launched by FISF PDC for new students to seek their “guides” in the industry and mentors in life.

The “CMP” designed by FISF PDC is committed to building a communication platform for enterprises and on-campus students of FISF. Students can grow and develop with the guidance of and interaction with career mentors as well as their life-sharing and wisdom. The program helps students get directly acquainted with mentors and brought into the industry in an active and positive manner so that they can expand their industry contacts, broaden their industry visions and thus make full preparations for their long-term career goals in the future.

Program Objectives

◆Presenting students with frontier industry ecology and career cognition, and helping students with self-orientation and clarification of career goals;

◆Improving personal capabilities and skills, answering questions based on the industry experience of career mentors, and strengthening students’ professionalism;

◆Gathering various industry resources and paying attention to actual problems students meet in financial practice;

◆Giving play to the active leading role of industry mentors, including both professionalism in the industry and more importantly the exemplary role in life and qualities;

◆Establishing an in-depth, valuable information exchange platform to offer targeted and stratified suggestions to students confused about employment in various aspects.

“Engage Enlighten Empower”——“3E” Career Mentor Program

FISF has always attached great importance to the cultivation of students’ practical ability and sense of theory-practice combination. PDC offers students all-around services with the purpose of nurturing practical financial talents with broad international visions and a strong sense of social responsibility. Altogether, mentors in “CMP” engage, enlighten and empower students, making joint efforts with FISF to cultivate internationalized financial talents with both ability and integrity, which is an indispensable part of the training process in practice fields.

In the 4th “CMP”, PDC has invited around 100 industry gurus for EMF and Full-time Financial MBA students to choose from. All the 120 2024 EMF students have been matched with 73 mentors successfully, each of whom will spare no efforts in providing life guidance and industry experience sharing, also bringing new industry perspectives to EMF students. Meanwhile, a “double career mentor” plan was innovatively put forward for 2024 Full-time Financial MBA students, assigning a total of 64 mentors to all 30 students. Each student will be guided under the direction of two mentors in various aspects.

On average, the mentors are aged over 49 years old with over 25 years of working experience. Many of them are financial experts, senior management in enterprises, pioneering entrepreneurs and senior human resource directors, involving various subdivided areas in financial institutions and financial posts in physical enterprises, which can precisely meet students’ different development needs and offer more available choices. Being selfless and dedicated, all the mentors passionately devote themselves to the grand business of education without any benefit-based relations. A number of renowned domestic and overseas institutions and units are involved, including Bank of America, Citibank, UBS Group, Morgan Stanley, HSBC Group, Ant Group, CICC Capital, Hony Capital, Fosun Group, CSC Securities, China Merchants Bank International, Zhongtai International, Guotai Junan Securities, PwC, Lubromet Fund, Schrodinger, Fidelity Fund, Bosera Fund, Foresight Fund, Shenyin&Wanguo Securities Research, Xiangcai Securities, Huajin Securities, Minsheng Bank, Orient Securities, Yinglian Health Industry Fund, Envision Capital and Ping An Asset Management, etc.

Co-frequency resonance——Closely following the “guide”

In order to give students a better understanding of the backgrounds of the mentors this year, PDC teachers prepared a detailed introduction of the mentors in both Chinese and English, covering the basic information, industry working experience and major fields of the mentors, as well as the number, major background and future development of the students they intend to guide, so as to make reasonable plans and arrangements. Career mentors also offered much support and active cooperation in turn. And eventually, all the students in the two programs of EMF and Full-time Financial MBA managed to be matched with their ideal career mentors and set foot on a new journey where they will work and march forward with each other. To the students, the mentors are like both teachers and friends, who unreservedly share their many years of working experience and knowledge summary while also being willing to exchange their views in life, building sincere friendships with them and setting a good role model for these young students. In the meantime, students will also have a better command of their own advantages and disadvantages and therefore update their personal picture of long-term development.

Knowledge-imparting teachers are common while people-educating teachers are hard to come across. With the ongoing CMP, the PDC will continue to protect the curiosity of FISF students to keep their eyes high on the stars and also enhance their confidence to keep their feet firmly on the ground. Career mentors will lead EMF and Full-time Financial MBA students to explore the gorgeous wonders of the financial industry and pursue their magnificent dreams.
