On November 7, 2018, Professor Qian Jun, the Executive Dean of the College, attended “the First China International Import Expo (CIIE)” and delivered a speech on “Service Trade Open-Up and Global Innovation Cooperation”. Professor Qian Jun emphasized that the financial industry, as a service trade in a broad sense, needed further open-up and innovation. In every capital account, when it comes to risk prevention, guaranteeing the normalization of capital turnover marks as the most important. In other words, excessive capital inflow or outflow was not an optimistic signal for the market. As for the issue of the internationalization of the RMB, the pivotal solution was to scale up the proportion of the RMB as a reserve currency.

Many distinguished guests attended the First CIIE, including Huang Qifan (Vice Chairman of China Center for International Economic Exchanges, Vice Chairman of the 12th National People's Congress Financial and Economic Committee, the former Mayor of Chongqing Municipality), Wang Xinkui (Former member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, former vice chairman of the Shanghai CPPCC, president of the Shanghai WTO Affairs Consultation), Zhong Zhengsheng (chairman and chief economist of Caixin Think Tank Monita Research), and Craig Smith (President and General Manager, Asia Pacific, Marriott International).
