On December 30th 2025, Peking University Press Co., Ltd. issued the “Announcement on the Selection Results of the Seventh Annual Best Books, the Fourth Outstanding Textbook Awards, the Twelfth Outstanding Proofreading Reports, and the Outstanding Copywriting Awards”. Among the winners, the book entitled Financial Large Language Models, co-authored by Professor Huasheng, Deputy Dean of Faculty and Research at FISF and Professor in Finance, and Professor Jian Chen, Professor in Finance (Practice Track) at FISF, won the Fourth Outstanding Textbook Award.

The book Financial Large Language Models systematically introduces the technical principles of large language models and their practical applications in the financial field, presenting readers with a panoramic view of the deep integration of artificial intelligence in technology and finance.
The sector of technical foundations provides an accessible introduction to the evolution from traditional TF-IDF to Transformer architecture, the technical similarities and differences between BERT and GPT, and the paradigm shift in the GPT series from supervised fine-tuning to zero-shot learning. It also addresses the “hallucination” problem of large language models, offering systematic strategies for evaluation and mitigation.
The section of practical applications exhibits a wealth of case studies showcasing the use of large language models in financial scenarios, including financial report analysis, sentiment analysis, and stock selection strategies. It details the construction of the Federal Reserve sentiment index, as well as key techniques such as prompt engineering and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG). The book concludes with a literature review exploring how large language models can empower financial research.
