Committee Member Jun Quan Comments on Boosting Consumption | FISF’s Voice at “The Two Sessions”

Release time:2025-01-16

The Third Session of the 14th Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference was grandly opened at the Shanghai World Expo Center on the morning of January 14th 2025.

At the group meeting, boosting consumption became a hot topic among the committee members. Regarding this, Jun Qian, Standing Member of the Shanghai Municipal Political Consultative Conference, Deputy Director of Central Democratic Construction Association Financial Committee, Democratic Construction Fudan University Committee, Executive Dean of FISF and Professor in Finance, suggested: excavating resources to create multiple personalized tourism routes based on the preferences of tourists from different countries, attracting more overseas tourists to Shanghai, and providing “customized” support programs for other special groups.

Recently, many domestic and foreign tourists have been clocking in from multiple angles near Wukang Building, and Tianzifang has started to be brightly lit again. “The publicity effect of ‘whether a place is city chic or not’ is beyond the reach of any amount of money. Now many foreigners want to know about China through social media and make friends with Chinese people, which offers a good opportunity." said Member Committee Jun Qian in an interview with Shanghai Observer News.

Qian mentioned that in recent years Shanghai has launched a series of payment terms for foreigners’ convenience, providing people entering China with a secure, convenient and efficient payment environment. “We should lay a solid publicity foundation in advance through social media, and provide one-stop services at airports and other entry ports, helping them download apps so that they can enjoy ‘smooth’ payment for transportation or takeaway food. We believe people will be stunned by Shanghai no matter where they come from.”
