发布时间:2021-06-10
The fifth day of the fifth lunar month
is known as Dragon Boat Festival, with the green reed leaves and fragrant
sticky rice. Upon its arrival, Dragon Boat Festival provides an opportunity to
embraced fun folk customs and national identity. FISF successfully organized a staff
activity on June 9th 2021 at the north campus - the 1st FISF Zongzi Making Competition. In the midst of a welcoming atmosphere, Yuejiang Li, Secretary
of FISF General Party Branch, along with nearly 30 teaching staff, took part in this
activity, experiencing the traditional folk customs, raising the understanding
of traditional culture and further stirring up their affection for the home
nation.
Zongzi, a symbol of inherited folk culture and food culture
having lasted for thousands of years, still has infinite charm in people’s
hearts.
Before the
competition started, staff members had already laid out all their materials
like sticky rice soaked in advance, fresh meat and salted egg yolk on the
table. Ladies of the north campus dining staff kindly displayed each step to
making zongzi, including: folding the reed leaves, filling in the sticky rice
and wrapping tightly and twining the reed ribbons. The whole series of steps
were done smoothly and quickly. Through professional technical instructions,
the teaching staff grasped the skills of making zongzi and anticipated tasting
the result of their labor and placing high in the competition.
Participating staff were
divided into 5 competing teams. At the starting whistle, the zongzi making
competition commenced. All team members acted flexibly and showed off their
special skills, rolling up the reed leaves with both hands, filling in
the sticky rice, adding delicious fresh meat and salted egg yolk, twining the
reed ribbon left and right and finishing by tightly fastening the knot.
The combined scents of
the sticky rice, the crystal salted egg yolk, the marbled fresh meat and the
green fresh reed leaves danced in the hands of quick-witted and nimble-fingered
staff. In little time, a number of angular, plump, cute and fragrant zongzi were
born. Everyone had a great time “competing”.
The competition ended after 50
minutes, and hundreds of different-looking zongzi of various styles sat in 5
baskets on the display table. Secretary Yuejiang Li and the representatives of
each team gave an overall assessment to the quality and quantity of the zongzi
made by each team, and selected a winning team in the first FISF Zongzi Making
Competition. Secretary Li congratulated and awarded the winners.
Through
experience, understanding, and the delicious and savoring finality of the
competition, the teaching staff have experienced the fun of traditional folk
customs and gained the awareness of the meaning of the dragon boat festival
during this meaningful activity. Their emotional communication and team
cohesion also strengthened in the atmosphere of the traditional folk custom.
